The existing Gordon Park playground was installed in 2001 and has been heavily used due to its proximity to the Gordon Park splash pad. This has contributed to increased wear and tear and the need for the replacement of play area surfacing and play equipment. The new playground equipment will feature some ADA-accessible details and will include play structures for both 2-5-year-old children and 5-12-year-old children, as well as swings and some stand-alone play pieces. New safety surfacing will remain a 100% poured-in-place rubber surface.
The splash pad will also be receiving a new rubber surface at the end of the summer season.
Timeline: Installation of the new play equipment is tentatively scheduled to begin this fall.
