Latest update: This portion of the Oak Leaf Trail has been repaved! Note that there is exposed stone along the edge of the trail; minor restoration is underway.

This project will reconstruct a segment of Oak Leaf Trail (OLT) in Greenfield Park. The segment is 1,200’ long and is located in a WE Energies utility corridor that bisects the center of the park. The trail segment is situated at the intersection of the OLT, the City of New Berlin Trail System, and the City of West Allis Trail System. The trail is in poor condition and should be reconstructed as soon as possible.

The trail pavement has suffered significant deterioration with substantial cracking and uneven surfaces, making for uncomfortable and unsafe trail use. Additionally, this segment of trail is only 6.5' - 8' wide whereas newer adjacent trail sections are 10' wide. The transitions in trail widths and between good and poor trail conditions pose a hazard to trail users. These unsafe conditions are magnified during periods of heavy use. The reconstructed trail will be 10’ wide in accordance with multi-use trail safety guidelines.

Construction Detour

During construction, the detour will take place between116th Street and124th Street, and will route users through the main drive of Greenfield Park.
