Executive Summary
We are excited to reveal the completion of our 5-Year Site Improvement Plan which was generated with inputs from a committee made up of staff, Friends of Wehr volunteers, and Milwaukee County Parks representatives. The plan was created to proactively address the needs of the nature center which has grown in its programming, visitation, and rentals significantly throughout the last several decades. Included in the plan are innovative solutions to issues such as erosion from stormwater runoff caused by neighboring development, improvements to trails, and new infrastructure projects such as a Land Stewardship Garage/Service Yard, Outdoor Classroom, and more– all of which are aimed at expanding the capacity of the nature center to better serve our growing audience.
Over the Summer of 2024, Parks Engagement staff surveyed 111 Wehr visitors to get feedback on what amenities they wanted most. The survey has since concluded and is not accepting any more responses. Here are the survey results.
