The previous Cooper Park playground was installed in 1998 and has been a popular attraction. The popular use eventually resulted in increased wear and tear and the need for a playground replacement.

The new playground has been installed. It included ADA-accessible features, rubber surfacing, new pathways, benches, and a replaced bike rack.
