Project Description
King Park was developed in the 1970s. As part of its original plan, it included a series of berms, or mounds of dirt, along the park’s west side. These berms have the negative effect of blocking views into the interior of the park and there is a current effort underway to remove them to increase visibility and safety. Starting with the northernmost section of the berm along N. 17th Street, Milwaukee County Parks leveled the turf to be more gradual and consistent with the other improvements in the park, including the basketball courts. The extent of work planned in 2025 is for the area along N. 17th Street near the pedestrian crossing at W. McKinley Ave and will extend south for about 275 feet. There will be no impact on the community center, basketball courts, or other features of King Park.
Timeline Construction began February 26th, 2025 and more work will be needed based on environmental impacts.
