Project Overview

Safe Routes to Parks seeks to address the impact that reckless driving has continued to threaten park users both within parks and for folks accessing parks from the surrounding neighborhoods. Physical improvements to the built infrastructure in and surrounding parks can help prevent reckless driving and slow down vehicular traffic to make it safer to walk or bike to a park. The project scope includes connections for non-motorized transportation (pedestrians, bicycles) to Parks and through Parks such as walkways, sidewalks, paths, and crosswalks. The intent is to also leverage potential City of Milwaukee Public Works improvements to streets that are adjacent to County Parks.
