Project Update 04.29.25 Work on the new concrete boat launch ramp is wrapping up. The new launch ramp will open on Thursday, May 1st.
Deteriorated concrete on boat launch ramp
Project Description
The existing concrete boat launch ramp at McKinley Marina is significantly deteriorated and does not contain proper traction grooves in the pavement surface. In addition, water near the launch area of the marina has sand/sediment deposits that need to be dredged. This project was designed as part of the recently completed Phase 2 improvements for the marina but needed additional funding. The project was bid out as a separate sub-project after receiving additional capital budget funding as well as a Wisconsin DNR Recreational Boating Facilities grant of $137,000.00. A sheet pile coffer dam will be constructed, and the construction area dewatered so demolition of the existing concrete ramps can occur. New concrete launch ramps will then be constructed as a poured-in-place structure with traction grooves integral in the surface of the concrete and minor dredging near the ramp area will be done.
Proposed Construction Schedule: Work on the project is scheduled to begin late November 2024. Proposed completion of the project is anticipated for mid-April 2025. However, poor winter weather conditions or unforeseen site conditions could delay completion and opening of the reconstructed launch. Please note: the boat launch will be closed during the course of the project.
